Peer Reviews of Energy Efficiency Policies

8 Feb 2009

EFA Managing Director, Dr David Crossley, was invited to be a team member for the inaugural APEC Peer Reviews of energy efficiency policies carried out in New Zealand and Chile in February and March 2009.

Peer Review teams are comprised of energy efficiency experts from several member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC).  Each team undertakes a review of a particular economy's energy efficiency policies.  David Crossley was appointed Chair of the review team for the Chile Peer Review.

The purpose of the Peer Review process is to assist all APEC economies to understand the challenges and benefits in advancing energy efficiency.  Download further information about the Peer Reviews here.  Download the report of the Chile review here and the report of the New Zealand review here.

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was established in 1989 to further enhance economic growth and prosperity for the region and to strengthen the Asia‑Pacific community.  APEC is the premier forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region.

APEC has 21 members - referred to as “member economies” - which account for approximately 40% of the world's population, approximately 56% of world GDP and about 48% of world trade.  APEC economies undertake economic and technical cooperation in order to attain sustainable growth and equitable development in the Asia‑Pacific region, while reducing economic disparities among APEC economies and improving economic and social well being.
